Another high quality guide for nursing students

This is a guide to basic physical assessment, complete with photos. Each section is well-organized in recommended order to do a detailed and accurate head-to-toe assessment, followed by a brief anatomy section and assessment overview. This is accompanied by possible abnormal findings. All of these things allow the nurse to do a rapid evaluation of the patient and quickly identify any issues that are occurring, so treatment can begin.

As with all of NRSNG.com releases, this guide is to-the-point, without a lot of frills. The language is simple, and concise to allow a quick read through and ease of recall. In addition to the detailed study of the process of assessment, this guide also offers access to a valuable Head -To-Toe Assessment Video series and additional resources such as charts, assessment checklists, and a clinical organizer. This is an excellent addition to any nursing student's study aids.

I loved this book! This is a great review of the assessment that I learned in nursing assessment class. Well written without a lot of fluff. Just the facts and procedures to do.

Black and white armature print quality

The whole book is black and white with poor print quality. Thought it was going to be in color. It's hard to see cyanosis or red reflex when the pages are black and white and look like they were printed with a printer in someone's home.

Having been in the medical field for over 20 years, Stedman's has always been my favorite; comprehensive and complete, yet easy enough to understand for those of us who work the administrative end. This newest version is better than ever: tabs and lots of pictures.

Just remember though...this is a FULL, DESKTOP version and not one to carry around in your backpack. It is perfect for the certified coder (or becoming one), the transcriptionist, the medical assistant, or the practice administrator.

The Text was everything and more than I expected. It has been very helpful when completing assignments. There are also several anatomical depictions that are very helpful as well.

I am working towards a Medical Assistant degree and found this book to be helpful. I can look up prefixes for medical words and this book has pictures too that help with understanding. It is easy to follow and easy to read. It also has a bonus CD rom and a free 1 year subscription to Stedman's Online. Glad I bought it!

Needs revising

Required for nursing school. After reading 6 chapters (15 to go), there are quite a few errors, a textbook should have a none to very few. The setup is also not appropriate such as the intro and pathophys is the same paragraph. Followed by management. then RN assessment and RN management which is the same as management. Disorganized for a longer book I suppose. Wouldn't recommend it if it wasn't required.

This is an awesome book. Easy read and contains all of the information you will need to be successful in your OB course. There a few discrepancies but with a little fixing up this book would be perfect. I've never read a book as much as I read this one.

I honestly didn't use this book for the ANCC exam other than looking at the table of contents. It gave me an idea of the areas of the exam. I meant to study, but ran out of time and just took the exam cold. Thankfully, all went well.
However--the book is clearly laid out and the topic correspond with the areas of the exam.
I gave the book to my neighbor who is studying for the PMH exam and she says it's VERY helpful!

Review :
Convenient but incomplete

The conversion of the text from the written book to the e-book version is somewhat garbled. For example, the subscripts and super scripts seem to give them the most trouble. However, the biggest complaint I have is that the tables and photos are only scanned in, and are not re-sizable. In many cases, the text within is so garbled as to be useless. Finally, the instructor of the course set much of the reading material to reference specific page numbers in the hard cover text (i.e. read pages 84-88, or look at table on page 1014). This makes the references all but impossible, as the e-book does not provide true page references. Found that I may have saved a few bucks, and perhaps a few pounds, but the learning experience was made tremendously more challenging.

Horrible book and poorly written. Grammatical errors throughout the book and it is not an easy read. it gives a lot of useless information that makes me think " what did I just read?" I hope to never purchase another book from these authors again.

I had to buy this book for my community nursing class. Please know, this book has LOTS of fluff. I guess since I am used to med surg and acute books with factual, succinct information and this book goes too far into examples and extra.

Pro: its a paper back (lighter weight)
Con: its a paper back (easier to rip, "auto" closes because the book is light weight).

If you HAVE to buy this book, look for a used version. It's not bookshelf worthy after purchasing so minimize it's use and resell it.

I only purchased this book as a requirement for a public health class. I find the reading to be very tedious, boring,and poorly layed out. While the material is not at all difficult, the formatting makes it impossible to pay attention.

Poor choice.

This book is poorly written and poorly organized. I am in my last semester of nursing school and I am so disappointed in this book. Perhaps it is written on a graduate level and is not suited to undergraduate study? I should be studying for a community test right now, but have such a hard time making myself open this book. I can spend hours reading a chapter and not have learned anything. Or worse -- learned something wrong.

I like to read, and I depend on reading chapters in order to pass exams. But this book does not help me grasp any of the concepts, much less be able to apply them on exams.

If you're reading this, I know you probably HAVE to buy this book and I am sorry about that. I just wish instructors would think twice before choosing this as a textbook for their courses. Reading it has been frustrating, to say the least. If I wasn't so far into the semester I would get a more readable book to help me learn this subject.

Rented this book for our daughter's class in her Bachelors of Science in Nursing. She enjoyed to book, it was well worth the rental price and the ease of returning the book was great. I am familiar with this new public health text. As a community/public health educator of over 25 years I find this textbook readable for undergraduates and catalyzing specifically because cases are integrated in the text. This allows the reader and learner to apply the knowledge shared. This is accomplished across a reasonable amount of chapters (24) as opposed to 40 or more in other textbooks. For a student the amount of money paid for a book should be reflective of the degree of use. A semester is self-limiting in length and in the case of this book the pertinent areas of community and public health are represented realistically in the time frame.
The scholarly nature of the book is excellent with specific referencing to evidence-based practice from refereed community, public health, and research literature throughout. Authors are of national and international reputation in each chapter. The illustrations are colorful and attractive and in each chapter there is a respectful...
