Not Helpful
I wrote and later deleted a previous negative review of this book because I got so many unnecessary, ignorant and insulting comments for not being converted by what I read. As someone who has a citric acid sensitivity and Interstitial Cystitis this topic interests me greatly, but I did not find anything useful in this book. I saw no compelling evidence to support the content, there are overly broad claims (these few foods will cure almost any ailment), it is a dry read and the author is repetitive. I think Amazon is a great place to voice your honest opinion about products but not an appropriate place for online bullying so I have re-posted my impression of this book and hope that no one feels the need to attack me personally for my opinion.

This is a great book but you will need to get the REVISED edition.
It's chock full of info and foods that you can eat!

Good Protocols But Need Research Citations
The Acid Alkaline Diet for Optimum Health by Christopher Vasey
is an informative book on the need to reduce acid pH in the body
by eliminating junk food, highly processed foods and eating more
leafy green vegetables and beets. Vasey discusses the role of enzyme
supplements, prebiotic and probiotic complexes, and antioxidants in
neutralizing excess acids.

The author explains that most consumers eat too many highly processed
foods that acidify the body. The result is a range of health problems like
chronic fatigue, ulcers and greater sensitivity to arthritis and related
diseases of the skeleton. Optimum health requires that the body have a
proper balance of alkaline and acid substances. The problem is that
Vasey doesn't support these statements with authoritative research findings
from places like The Lancet. Scientists know inferentially that the body
decays and becomes more acidic after death occurs...

Reduce Inflammation and Get Back to Life
As someone who struggles with joint inflammation, headaches and constant bloating, I have constantly been told that medication is the answer to all my problems...and then they get worse...and then I over-medicate. I am a meat and potatoes type of girl and not very good at following 'diets' because I have a hard time being told what to eat, but I love that there are charts to suggest food to avoid (high inflammatory foods) and food you can eat as much as you want of (low inflammatory foods). Whether you are looking for a strict eating plan, or a timer-saver, this book provides you with all of the information you need to get started, with lots of options to cater to your taste preferences, boost your immune system and reduce inflammation throughout your body.

Great plans if you don't work.
I was frankly overwhelmed by the plans. Maybe that's my fault and not the fault of the book...but I'm a healthy eater already (no junk food), and with the "Time Saver Plan", I wrote down a shopping list of 49 different ingredients, many of them considered somewhat "exotic"...

...and that was just Monday - Wednesday of Week 1.

Enough said. Unless you're both wealthy & retired, who has time or this?

Beware of the reviews
Wish I had spent more time evaluating the reviews before purchasing. Apparently, I am one of the few people who actually paid for this book on Amazon. At least 23 of the reviewers received a free copy of the book in exchange for a “fair and honest” review. I found almost no reviews that mentioned actually trying the meal plans.

The book contains some useful information and many, many recipes. If that is what you are looking for, this may be a good purchase for you. The meal plans, however, are highly unrealistic. The estimated prep/cook times are a joke and the number of ingredients within a week is through the roof. If you have no job but a whole bunch of money, then these plans might work. Also, other than the breakfast smoothies, the plans don’t offer any beverage guidance. The book mentions several beverages to avoid (e.g. milk, alcohol, caffeinated beverages), but does not offer much information on what is beneficial to drink. Should I restrict...

It's not an exaggeration to say that Dr. Mincolla is one of the world's top healers. I have been a patient of Mark's for over 30 years and with his integrated East-West healing approach he has helped me with hundreds of different problems of all types -- physical, psychological, and spiritual. As someone who is a professional mental healthcare practitioner and uses holistic approaches, I have been exposed to the works of hundreds of healers and health practitioners and there are very few who understand the dynamics of mind-body-spirit well-being like Mark Mincolla does. Dr. Mincolla has always taken the philosophy that he would rather teach his clients how to fish (e.g., take care of their own health) so they can fish (and be well) for a lifetime, rather than just give them fish and eat for a day. This is another fantastic book by Mark that will allow the reader to learn how to do that. As with all of Dr. Mincolla's books, it is highly recommended.

This works for anyone
As with Mark Mincolla's first book Whole Health you learn that its not a plan to follow. Each thing that works if based on your own body. I have been following his information for two years and lost 4 sizes and cured my Crones disease. I am so glad to have this new book that really breaks out just food and health. Its like the piece that was missing.
