This book seems very outdated and you will be much better off by investigating your local Senior Citizens Organizations, Human Services, and Clinics and Doctors will give you today's benefits that can be extremely helpful to Seniors, especially free meds, etc. You don't need to jump through hoops to get onto free med situations and don't have to deal directly with the Pharm. companies. Today you can get aid to do this for you. Just dig into your local Human Services and one lead seems to lead to another, and so on. Sorry, but this contains methods to help that were in print back in the 70's. Do a little work yourself and you'll be amazed how much up to date aid you can receive which is based on Today's Opportunities.

You do not have to pay, so... Why Pay
Back when I first became disabled with severe spinal damage that will never reverse without a miricle, I began looking for legal ways to make extra money. The exact same pitch you see here was out, and I took a try with it. I believe the book was not out yet, but from what I have seen, this is an advertisement, not a book. I will tell you for no cost how to get grants. To finish my explanation: It was for a catalogue book I would get in the mail with directions included, which were really not directions and I did get a book of letters that could be written or sent to the government, which was the way to get a grant. While that is true, it is not truth in advertising, from my perspective, or was it worth the $260 (approx.) I paid back in 2004 or 05. It did not show how to find the grant offices for applying. I never found it, until I enrolled in school later on. These are not fully truthful products, the book is a waste of money if you can go on a computer and do a search...
Don't spend your money

Sadly, this book has no good deals and/or free stuff, I got better information from the AARP website and that's free. Save your money! this book is not worth it!!!

Very good information for seniors, and also for others such as my daughter who found valuable info. to use, for gardening, correct info. as how to locate and find availability of wood chips. I also found exemptions for seniors and how to get them. All in all, a very useful book, and I am glad that I purchased a used book in excellent condition, and a very low price.

Already know 50% of what is written

There are several things that are helpful, but many of the things written about are already known or are
not applicable to us. I have done spot reading according to subjects I was interested in. Good for someone who is maybe less informed or who has not put into practice the suggestions and info available
in the book. There are enough money saving tips to pay for the book, however, so I would recommend it
to anyone trying to cut costs and save on various things.

Nothing to do with "Senior", fradulent title, trivial advice, dubious savings claims
This book is a fraud. No more than 5% of the content has anything to do with "senior". Page 1 food market tips: Buy direct, Shop late, Pay cash, Eat seasonally. Page 2: hunt for hidden bargains. Page 3: check per-unit prices on sale items, buy bagged produce.

NONE of this advice pertains more to 50+ or seniors.

Interspersed over 355 more pages one will find "ask for senior discount" mentioned several times.

The exception would be page 91 "Supercharge your Social Security benefits" where you do receive invaluable advice, namely defer claiming SS until you reach full retirement age so that you can retain full benefits. Who knew?

And they top that brilliant advice on page 92 with the little known fact that for every year you defer benefits beyond full retirement age, up to 70, you lifetime benefit will be increased by 8%, and that may be of benefit to a surviving spouse. Yet no mention of the tradeoffs, namely that the break-even point for the...
